West Hempfield, PA (April 26, 2022) – A multi-vehicle collision in West Hempfield injured three people on Monday morning, April 25. The eastbound lanes of Route 283 were closed between the Salunga exit and the Landisville exit in Lancaster County.
According to reports, the incident involved seven vehicles, including a transit van, three passenger cars, a construction vehicle, and two tractor-trailers. Police said the transit van stopped in the right eastbound lane when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. This resulted in a chain-reaction collision that involved the other five vehicles.
Two of the involved drivers were transported to a local hospital with injuries. The eastbound lanes and a shoulder of the roadway were closed for some time which resulted in some traffic delays.
Route 283 was closed for approximately two hours between Spooky Nook Road and State Road due to the crash. The incident remains under police investigation at this time.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
