Pennsylvania Car Wrecks
According to information provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, there are approximately 12 accidents reported per hour in the Keystone State. This is equal to more than 100,000 car wrecks per year. Tens of thousands of people are hurt in these wrecks, and over 1,000 lose their lives annually in car crashes in Pennsylvania.
When you sustain serious injuries in a car accident, it can be overwhelming and difficult to fully recover. You may be unable to work while dealing with serious pain and suffering. You may be unsure of how you’re going to pay for all of the damages associated with your wreck. Luckily, the cost of lost wages, pain, suffering, and more may be able to be compensated for by filing a personal injury claim with a Pennsylvania personal injury lawyer. A lawyer can help you determine the cost of your damages and aggressively negotiate with the insurance company in order to get you the settlement you deserve.
Pennsylvania is a no-fault insurance state, which means that regardless of who causes a crash, the car insurance company will pay for damages up to a certain amount. No-fault insurance is used to keep parties involved in a crash from using small claims courts to dispute accountability.
However, no-fault insurance does not mean that the party responsible for the accident is not at fault. If economic damages cost more than the insurance company offers, recovery can be attained by filing a personal injury lawsuit. It is important to note that the laws dictating fault are complex and usually require the help of a skilled car accident attorney in Pittsburgh.
